What Does CDF Mean?

"Movement flows like water yet, it must be created and then developed so it may flow in the right direction."

--Sifu Jack Soderberg.

Create:

The quality to originate and produce the first thought.

Develop:

The process of acquiring perfection through the evolution of change.

Flow:

Flexibility to any force with adaptability, continuity and rhythm.

The CDF Academy concept was founded by Sifu Jack Soderberg of Chicago, Illiinois and later adopted by his instructor' Guro Rich Lamoureaux who took over the program when Sifu Jack moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. There are three CDF Academies (Indiana, Nevada and Virginia).

CDF (Create, Develop, Flow) is not just a catchy name for our program but a philosophy of training. The CDF Academy of Virginia has an eclectic approach to martial arts training which addresses the self-defense and developmental needs of the martial artist. It is not a program of one thought or one idea but uses various systems, styles and philosophies for total person training. There are a few schools claiming to be CDF Academies. We will accept this as a complement. If you see CDF Academy or its material mentioned on any other site besides this one, they have not been authorized by us.

While there is a lot of controversy regarding self-defense training and how it should be approached. The CDF Academy believes it offers effective and realistic martial art training that address self defense rather than sport. Like a private academy, the CDF Academy offers an atmosphere of small classes that are not dependent upon numbers of students or quick promotions to keep high enrollments. The programs offered take more time than commercial programs. As the wine commercial goes "we will not promote no one before their time." We have associated ourselves with some of the best martial arts instructors in the world who are dedicated in offering our instructors and students quality martial arts instruction. So think of the advantages: no large groups of students, quality instruction, no wasted time on aerobics or stretching but quality time spent on MARTIAL ARTS.
