Filipino Martial Arts

The Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) develop empty hand skills from its weapons
training. It is a complete martial art system that has not only weapons, but
also empty hand systems, grappling, and forms. The system was originally
developed for combat and practical application in relatively short periods of
time against other villages or foreign invaders. The training method is
systematic and simplistic as only the skills that were proven effective and
could be easily taught were used. Training consists of double stick, single
stick, stick and dagger, single and double knife, the empty hand as well as a
number of traditional Filipino weapons. The CDF program emphasizes training
from Marinas Pananandata Arnis (designed for combat or self defense. A great
deal of emphasis is placed on stick sparring and knife sparring for the advanced
students). The CDF Academy also offers Kali/JKD and Grappling training.
