Richard Lamoureaux began training in 1965. He is a black belt in Karate and a black sash in Kung Fu, reaching national level competitive ranking from the American Karate Association in 1981 and 1982.

Beyond black belt, his advanced study has included training under several of the most accomplished martial arts instructors. In the United States, he is certified to teach under Dan Inosanto, Paul Vunak, and Ted Lucay Lucay. His specialization is in the Filipino Martial Arts and Jeet Kune Do.

Richard Lamoureaux has trained with the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructors from Brazil such as Rickson Gracie,  Renzo Gracie, Wellington (Megaton) Diaz, Rodrigo Teixeira and Pedro Carvalho.

Richard Lamoureaux represents Pedro Carvalhos Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  Mr. Carvalho is a 2nd. degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and former five time Jiu-Jitsu champion.  Mr. Carvalho is the tactical instructor for the L.A.P.D. and is based in Southern California.

Mr. Lamoureaux has a great deal of experience working with Law enforcement agencies, security firms, and the U.S. Special Military Forces. He has trained hundreds of students from various styles of martial arts, including many national level competitors and instructors from other disciplines. He has appeared in many national martial arts publications and has conducted numerous seminars throughout the nation.

His latest accomplishment is that he is now training a secret service agent agent for former Vise President Al Gore in Jiu Jitsu.
